Porn addiction counseling for men who want real peace

You've tried to stop, and it keeps pulling you back. That doesn't mean you're broken. Confidential counseling for men that gets underneath the habit, without shame, toward a real peace porn can't give.

You might be here because

  • You've promised yourself you'd stop, more times than you can count.
  • It's the first thing you reach for when you're stressed, bored, or lonely.
  • You feel a wave of shame afterward, and then do it again.
  • It's going against what you believe, and that's eating at you.
  • You're hiding it from your wife or the people closest to you.
  • Filters and accountability apps helped for a while, then didn't.

Why it's so hard to stop

Men are made for peace, but life often creates chaos. Over time, the hard parts of life pile up: feeling inadequate, feeling like you don't measure up at work or at home, feeling powerless to change things. Those experiences create real emotional needs, and many men don't know how to recognize them, much less what to do with them. They just feel like restlessness, stress, or something churning inside.

Because you're made for peace, your body fights back against that chaos. It reaches for whatever will bring relief fastest, and pornography delivers a rush of dopamine that eases the pain and soothes the need for a moment. But it's a false peace. The need is still there afterward, often with shame on top of it, and the cycle starts again. That's why willpower alone so rarely works.

The way out is intimacy, not just willpower

The real answer to the need underneath is intimacy: with God, with yourself, and with the people in your life. It's the only way out of the addictive cycle.

In counseling, you'll learn to understand your own cycle of porn addiction and why it's been so hard to break. Then you'll learn, step by step, to recognize what you're actually feeling and needing, and to meet those needs through real connection with God, yourself, and others. Along the way you'll build a healthier emotional life overall, on a path that leads to real peace instead of the false peace pornography offers.

Faith at the center, never forced

For Christian men, recovery isn't just about stopping. It's about drawing closer to God instead of hiding from Him. Your counselor will bring faith into the work in the ways that help you, never as a lecture.

If you'd rather leave faith out, your counselor's care is just as thorough, and they follow your lead. How faith works at Freedom

Working against shame, not with it

Shame keeps the cycle going, so we actively work against it. The part of you that turns to porn is actually trying to do something good: to bring you relief and peace. It's been hijacked and turned against your own morals and values. Acting against what you believe can leave a real wound, sometimes called moral injury, and that wound deserves care, not more condemnation. Understanding this is often where change begins.

Confidential, and close to home

What you share stays between you and your counselor, within the limits the law sets (like safety), which he'll explain at the start. You can meet online from home, anywhere in Kentucky, or at our Middletown office in Louisville.

If you're his wife

Finding out about a husband's porn addiction can be devastating, and you deserve support of your own. Tony Gore, LCSW, works with wives directly, and with couples who want help for their marriage because of it.

Common questions

Is porn addiction real?

Many men find they can't stop even when they want to, and that it's hurting their life, faith, and relationships. Whatever label you use, that's worth getting help for, and it's what we work on.

Why can't I just stop with willpower?

Because porn is meeting a real emotional need, in a false way. Until you learn to recognize that need and meet it through real connection with God, yourself, and others, the pull keeps coming back.
