Counseling that fits into a Louisville week
The best counselor for you won't help much if getting there is a struggle. Our office is a short drive for most of eastern Louisville, and on the weeks you can't make the drive, you can meet online instead. You never have to choose between the counselor you want and a schedule that works.
Clients come to us from Middletown, St. Matthews, Jeffersontown, Anchorage, Lyndon, Prospect, and across eastern Louisville.
What the letters after our names mean
- LCSW (Tony Gore): Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a fully licensed clinician who can practice independently and supervise others.
- LPCA (Staci Harrub, Luke Burgett, Kasie Secrest): Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, a licensed counselor with a master's degree in counseling who practices under a board-approved supervisor while completing the hours for full licensure (LPCC).
- Marriage and Family Therapy Life Coach (Rhonda Gore): a life coach trained in marriage and family work. Rhonda isn't a licensed clinician, and her work with you is coaching.
- Student Counselor, supervised by Tony Gore, LCSW (Sophie Bowman): a graduate counseling student seeing clients under Tony's supervision, at a lower rate.
In Kentucky, the title "psychologist" is reserved for licensed psychologists, who hold a doctoral degree. None of our counselors are psychologists, and none prescribe medication.
Faith at the center, never forced
Every Freedom counselor brings together a biblical worldview, Christian theology, and the best clinical practice. When you want it, your counselor can pray with you, open Scripture, and talk about where God is in what you're facing. How to choose a counselor in Louisville
- Start with what you're facing. Look for someone who works with it often. Our services list who does what.
- Think about fit. Age, gender, and style matter. Read a few counselor profiles and notice who sounds like someone you could talk to.
- Check the price. We post every counselor's rate, from $50 to $165 per session.
- Decide in person or online. Both work, and you can mix them.
- Decide on faith. If you want faith in your counseling, say so. If you don't, that's fine too.
- Know you can switch. If the first counselor isn't the right fit, you can change, no hard feelings.

Every counselor is accepting new clients and meets in person or online.
In person, online, or both
Every counselor meets in our Middletown office or online. Many clients mix the two: in person when it's easy, online during a busy week. You can switch anytime, no special permission needed.

Your first visit
Your first session is mostly a conversation: your counselor getting to know you and what brought you in. There's nothing to prepare. Sessions are 50 minutes.
What it costs
$50 to $165
per 50-minute session
We don't bill insurance, but you can pay with an HSA or FSA card, and we'll give you a superbill to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement.
Common questions
Do I need to know which counselor I want?
No. Tell us what's going on, and we'll suggest the best fit. Or choose a counselor yourself. You can always switch.
How soon can I be seen?
Usually the same week, sometimes as soon as the next day.
Can I switch between in person and online?
Yes, week to week if you like. Online sessions are for clients in Kentucky.
What part of Louisville are you in?
Middletown, in eastern Louisville, just off Blankenbaker Parkway near I-64.
What if I've never been to counseling before?
That's a completely normal place to start. Your first session is a conversation, with nothing to prepare.
Do you take insurance?
