What counseling at Freedom costs

No guessing and no surprise bills. Here is every counselor's rate, how payment works, and how you may be able to get part of it back from your insurance.

Looking for a lower cost?

Sessions with Sophie Bowman, our Student Counselor, are $50. Sophie works with children 8 and up, teens, and young adults, and her work is supervised by Tony Gore, LCSW. Meet Sophie

If cost is a concern, talk with us before you rule counseling out. We consider financial hardship case by case.

Do you take insurance?

We don't bill insurance directly. You pay for each session, and we'll give you a superbill: a receipt with the details your insurance company needs. If your plan has out-of-network mental health benefits, you can submit it to be reimbursed for part of the cost.

How to find out what you'd get back: call the number on your insurance card and ask:

  1. Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
  2. What's my deductible, and how much of it have I met?
  3. What percentage do you reimburse for an out-of-network session?
  4. How do I submit a superbill?

How payment works

We accept credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, cash, and checks. Payment is taken after each session. You can keep a card on file to be charged automatically after each session, or pay at the front desk each time if you'd rather.

Cancellations: please give at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. A cancellation with less than 24 hours' notice is charged 50% of your session fee. A missed session without notice is charged the full session fee.

Your right to a Good Faith Estimate

Under federal law, if you don't use insurance (or pay on your own), you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost. You'll receive one before your first session, and you can ask for one anytime. cms.gov/nosurprises
