Internal family systems · Louisville, KY and online

An IFS therapist in Louisville, for the parts of you that feel stuck

Internal family systems (IFS) helps you understand the different parts of you, like the inner critic or the part that shuts down, and heal what they've been protecting.

You might be here because

  • Part of you wants to change, and part of you keeps pulling back.
  • You have a harsh inner critic you can't seem to quiet.
  • Old hurts still shape how you react today.
  • You feel split between who you are and who you think you should be.
  • You've heard of IFS and want to know what it's like.
  • Other approaches helped, but something deeper still feels stuck.

Every part of you has a reason

IFS sees the mind as made up of parts, each trying to help in its own way. Some parts protect you, like the critic, the worrier, or the part that numbs out. Others carry old pain. In IFS, you get to know these parts with curiosity instead of fighting them, so the protective ones can relax and the hurting ones can heal.

Curious, compassionate, and at your pace

Your counselor helps you notice a part, get to know what it's worried about, and understand what it's protecting. It's a gentle, conversational process, and nothing is forced. IFS is often used for trauma, anxiety, depression, shame, and inner conflict, and a growing body of research is studying its benefits.

Faith at the center, never forced

Some Christians wonder how IFS fits with their faith. Your counselor brings together a biblical worldview, Christian theology, and the best clinical practice, and can talk through any questions you have. If you'd rather not bring faith in, you'll get the same clinical care. You lead.
